SKILLS FOR EFFECTIVE
GENDER INTERACTIONS AT WORK

Duration: One Day
Audience: Men and women interested in improving their interactions in a diverse workplace.
WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

This interactive course provides participants with the skills needed for effective communication and interaction with members of the opposite gender. Participants will not only gain understanding of the different mindset and thinking of the other gender, they will learn to communicate and listen differently to suggestions, disagreements and emotional expressions.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand the different underlying gender assumptions about relationships, communication, conflict, learning, humor and teamwork.
  • Practice cross-cultural communication skills for running effective meetings, building relationships and resolving conflict.
  • Learn ways to create an inclusive, non-hostile environment.
  • Practice ways to handle emotional expressions; anger, crying, laughing and humor.
  • Learn how to listen by hearing from "the other's shoes".

TOPICS INCLUDE:

  • A Cultural Framework which provides underlying gender assumptions about relationship, teamwork, learning and resolving conflict.
  • Awareness of male/female styles of assertiveness, making suggestions and disagreement.
  • Role play real-life scenarios.
